Okay.... now this is just the greatest performance I've seen in a long time.
I know you all remember Cyndi Lauper and how outrageous her songs were as well as just plain fun!
Here is is singing Heartache By The Numbers... you know, that Ray Price tune.
I am in love with this performance and how her hair and also red suit are so indicative of what Cyndi has and always will be, because the girl just has always wanted to have fun and is still doing so.
I have always found music to be a source of what can drive me in life which is probably what makes me crank it high when alone in my vehicle. Just got word of this new song through a website I am signed up on, and once a week or so they send me an e-mail. Most of the new music I find to be bad... not appealing to me in any way,
but today I loved this one and will be making the purchase. It has one of those beats that you can sway to.
It's Lukas Nelson's (son of Willie) Find Yourself.
It's Saturday!!
Get out there and enjoy autumn if it's arrived at your house!
On this very special day of the year I honor my father who passed away in 2000.
I could not have loved him more, and he made me feel loved always.
And CHEERS to my husband who deserves not only the father of the year award, but also the grandfather of the year for loving his and mine.... OUR children and grandkids all as if they were his own.
He has allowed the blending and blurring of the family lines, as have so many wonderful men out there.
Our generation suffered the blows of divorce in nearly every family I know.
The blending and blurring is what then made new families work.
He's taken our life together back and forth across this great nation of ours numerous time, and if I had to do it all over again, I would STILL choose to go ANYWHERE with him.
I was never a really big fan of Willie Nelson, but when I came across this video of his son singing, well.... it blew my mind to hear the voice of his father coming from his lips. Ain't that funny?
Time certainly does slip away.
I think about that quite often these days.... must mean I am growing older.
There was a time when EVERY Tuesday on this blog was devoted to new music.... I then got away from doing such a post because to put it simply... it was way too much work.
BUT, today I came across these artists, and they had Vince Gill on the CD, so I mean... VINCE. GILL. !!
I've always loved his soft croon.
So here is Johnnyswim and 'Lonely Night In Georgia'.
And here is an older video by Johnnyswim that caught my ear and eye.
So cute with the dune buggy. Oh I miss the dune buggy week-ends at Dad's house!!
AND
Here they are doing 'Christmas Waltz' because they have a Christmas CD from a year or two ago that's pretty nice!
I came across this video performance by Yusuf Islam, earlier known as Cat Stevens, and decided you should hear it, if only because it's easy on the ears. It has meaning behind the words as explains Yusuf at the start of the video.
We should all speak up for peace and goodness, don't you agree?
But why don't we? Or perhaps I should say "why don't they?".
It's my opinion that those of us who knew how to do so way back in the days of Cat Stevens.... the rebellious years of the 60's and 70's, are just worn out. We are tired. We are getting old.
AND the young ones of today don't seem to understand or practice the rebellious ways of earlier when people actually headed out to the streets in force. Yes... actually into the streets marching, carrying signs demanding that things change.
Instead, today's protests are led online, and I am simply not sure that the same effects are felt in Washington DC as they were when tennis shoes, tattered jeans and long scraggly hair hit the streets.
We weren't just spouting off about running naked in the fields of Woodstock with flowers in our hair and making love in the open.... we were changing the world in more ways than our children and grandchildren will ever know. They are simply too busy, heads downward, texting and worrying about the latest way to communicate quietly and discreetly in Messenger, Facebook and Snapchat. They don't seem to know anything about political dissent for the good of changing the world in a positive way.
The changes WE gave them are too many to mention.
My hope is that they will give us the gift of change as well.
I bought this song from iTunes this morning because I thought the lyrics were good
and the guitar music had me at Better Find A Church.
New music can fill the silence between the falling snow.
Supposedly we have winter, snowy weather on the way so I'll be doing my shopping today along with all the other pre-blizzard-wanna-be folks.
Also, my husband's electric toothbrush finally bit the dust so that's on the top of the list.
I'm always amazed that any of us think we need to shop before a blizzard-ee storm since if most country folk are like us, the pantry is always full anyway.
BUT, I like to have plenty of beans in the pantry when the storm is raging outside.
LOL
Not sure why, guess beans just make sense since you can use them in soup or chili or if they are those pasty ones in a can you can always make a great bean dip.
Here is Ricky Dillon with I Don't Wanna Fall In Love.
It's a toe tapping song.
I did end up purchasing a couple of nice light jazz songs by Stacey Kent on her album 'Tenderly' which came out last November.
I purchased 'Only Trust Your Heart, and also 'Tangerine'.
Sometimes I need a peaceful sound.
Here's Tangerine.
Live dangerously and go find something new to treat your ears to today!
Oh.... you may or may not have noticed a change in my lipstick on fashion posts here on the blog.
The red shades of Mac in matte have been my preference up until this past week when I switched things up to their Full Fuchsia color, an amplified creme;
great for the holidays to add a bit of pink to the mix.
This is, however, not a matte... it has a bit more 'flash' to it and glimmer.
Just something you may want to consider if you are planning to attend any New Year's parties this coming week-end.
I've always loved shades of Fuchsia!
The older we ladies get, I think it's important to wear a bit of lip color so that our ever fading natural lip skin color does not fade away to no lips at all.
The face as we age tends to slip downward and the only thing others see are our bags and sags.
Lip color is a good thing on older women, even if it's a light pink or peach.....
I've always had somewhat thin lips and as I have aged into my sixties I've decided to define and enhance what lips I have left...
Just realized it's now Wednesday and that new music came out on Tuesday.... guess I was sleeping on the job yesterday.
Mutemath, whoever they are, has a new CD out.
Here's their song Monument.
For you country song lovers... here's Chris Young as he sings 'I'm Coming Over' on his newest CD.
Kylie Minogue's Christmas music CD was released.
Love this 'Only You' sung with James Corden, but check out the entire CD on iTunes.... very nice!
One Direction.... 'History', kind of a kicky, catchy tune.
'When The Morning Comes' by A Great Big World. I actually enjoyed one of their other songs more but could not find a video of it, but this is also a nice sounding song.
'End Of The World' was their song I liked even more.
Ben Rector has some new music out this week and I'll be purchasing this song, 'Paris', because it just made me feel happy, and for me that's what music is all about.
It should evoke an emotion in you, so if LOVE and HAPPINESS are what you need to feel today, then listen to this song.
XOX
During the month of July many sales are touted as being 'Christmas in July' sales, and were marketing left to me, in many cases I would do the same.
This month we celebrated 'Christmas in July' by giving our children wonderful and unexpected gifts that would make their lives better in some way, and it's not a gesture that need even be thought about returning to us, we simply love spoiling them halfway through the year.
Well, why not?
We are not texters, or cell phone users except when absolutely necessary, so we don't text them 'Merry Christmas in July', we simply send a surprise.
We hope they loved it this year!
Here's animated Kristen Bell singing Text Me Merry Christmas
