CCCCOLD Weather

My husband had given me a gift certificate to Macys as part of my Christmas gift, and with the weather being so CCCCOLD as of late, I decided to purchase a long coat.  Each time I stepped outdoors my bum would get chilled, so length was a big issue for me in making this purchase.
It was the only coat of significant length they had left in the store, and I like the fact that it has a sewn in vest to help keep my core snuggly and warm.

Now is the time to make a coat purchase since prices are much lower, but keep in mind you may have to be open as to the style and color you want since things are getting a bit 'picked over'.

My coat choice is by Cole Haan, but there are other nice brands as well in all of the stores and across the internet.

Hope you find the perfect coat for you!

We have ice on our road today so I'll be staying home.... drive safely!!

Tuesday the roads were clear of snow and ice, except for our tiny, private road which had a few patchy spots, but the main roads were clear sailing.
*note the permanent sewed in vest that zips*
Off to the mall I sailed and to Macy's I did go to spend my gift certificate.
*leather hat by Minnetonka available online or in a nearby leather shop *Leatherhaus in our mall**
*This coat has a  huge hood that pulls tightly around the face when needed and is not removable*
Some people prefer a hood that removes, but then I, for one, forget to put it back on when I need it and have to dig through the coat closet to find it....it's simply better for me to have a hood that is there 100% of the time.
This coat is down filled.... no polyester in this baby!
The suede boots are from White Mountain.... and are last year's purchase which are still available and on sale. SO nice that I sent a pair to my daughter this year!  AND, they are great for wearing around the house on cold winter floors too.
They also come in black.
IF you still need a pair of boots, now is the time.

The plain black stretchy ponte pants are from Macy's and pretty much available year round.  I LIVE in these pants and have three pair of them.  They are on sale often as well.
*gloves from Target, Fossil Purse @ Macys*
Love a good pair of driving gloves!

So, start your engines and go grab some clearance priced winter items before the are go go go gone until next winter.
Good luck!!

Just The Hood

Maybe you did and maybe you didn't notice the coat in this photo the other day when I posted our snow photos.....
I purchased this down and feather filled coat by Larry Levine from Macy's some days before our incredible snowstorm hit the area.
It's a great warm coat and once the storm was here and I actually wore the coat, well.... I can't tell you how happy I was with it.  BUT, the one thing I wished is that it had a hood, which as far as I knew it did not.  Then yesterday I was looking it over and noticed that under the collar was a zipper.... but nothing was zipped to it, so it was obvious that it should have had a hood when I purchased it.
It was on clearance or I NEVER would have purchased it considering that the original price was nearly $200, and I don't spend that amount on coats, because clearance prices feels so much nicer.

After noticing the zipper with no hood as a mate, I looked the coat up on Macy's website and it said that the local store had none in stock... but the website did have one in my size and color, so I clicked the purchase button just so that the coat would not slip away from me, and I immediately dialed the customer service number for the online store and explained my situation and could they just send me a hood please.  LOL  Oh, I knew they wouldn't, but it was worth a try, right?
The gal from the website said that I would need to return the hoodless coat to our local store and just buy an entirely new coat online.... so I did.

When I took the hoodless coat back to the store today I told the sales clerk  that it seemed odd that the hood had disappeared... but she said, "you would be surprised at the things people take."

A hood?
Really?

Anyway hopefully once my new replacement coat arrives it will be the end to a happy story.

Just the hood, right?
Hmmmm
Very strange.

P.S.  The coat had taken ANOTHER markdown since I purchased it, so all in all it saved me some money.  It's now sold out in every color in my size.

Single Or Double

Merry Christmas Eve Eve.
Got that?
LOL
The day before Christmas Eve.

Hey.
I had to go shopping a couple of days ago.
NIGHTMARE in the parking lots.
Round and Round I went to get into the mall and to find a parking space that wasn't in Egypt or Australia.... I guess this means that the stores are having a successful retail season, and I like to see that happen so that we don't have anymore store closings in our mall.
You know... like The Gap store did this past year and how I boo hoo hoo'd and am still weeping a bit over that loss.

I did stop into Belks and try on some pea coats... I haven't had one since I was a teenager as I recall, and they are simply the best looking traditional styled coats you can buy that never ever go out of style.  Peacoats are on the racks every winter and really.... I doubt they will ever leave us.
A couple of years ago I purchased a long black coat... one that I have been disappointed in, not only the fabric, but the weight of it, and it attracts and holds onto every single dog hair it can find... dog hair on a black coat really bugs me.  So, I decided to get a lighter colored coat, and this pea coat (which actually comes in numerous colors) won't show puppy dog hair.
I purchased the double breasted, very plain, no bells and whistles, straps across the back, or a belt to tie.  Simplicity.

See... nothing on the back, although I would have still purchased it had it a fake belt on the back... sometimes those can be cute, and they also add a dimension of having a waistline to the back side of the jacket.  But mine is plain.

They also offered the same color in the Calvin Kkein brand that was single breasted and had button on the pockets.
They were both the same price, ON SALE NOW, and both came in multiple colors.
If you are interested in a sale priced Calvin Klein peacoat, check out the links below.

P.S.  I had to size up since it seemed narrow through the shoulders and chest.

They also have an Anne Klein Peacoat... a bit more expensive but cute.

Oh, and we are in the 50's and 60's with rain and fog... every day this month it would seem.... can't wait for a bit colder weather to set in so I can wear my new peacoat!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve shopping!
