One Perk Of Living Here

 Another round of cold temperatures will be striking again tonight, so for dinner we picked the lettuce that is growing in the bowl on the deck and then moved the bowl into the covered porch.

 This afternoon we spent time in the warmth of the sunshine on the front porch.  It was 75 degrees and to be honest.... we got hot!  The pups lolled around in the green grass of the front yard,

 and the daffodils were in full bloom.

 Well, who can resist cutting a few and bringing some of that yellow sunshine indoors for heaven sakes.

 Although the ones left outside will do fine in the cold temperatures tonight, or I would have cut more, 

they will however look a wee bit limp tomorrow.  Such hardy blooms they are!

 When we lived in the city in the southwestern U.S., I didn't have flowers that I could bring indoors to enjoy... we had three rose bushes, but they always struggled to look healthy.

Miscellaneous

Over night we went from sweet, warm, spring days with tee shirts and blossoms, to an overnite of 34 degrees and a light layer of ice in the birdbath this morning.  From what we can tell, the gusty winds only took down two trees this time around. One wimpy tree where the bunnies nest, and of course another cedar tree.  As much as I love our cedar grove, I have become very disenchanted with that area of the yard since their shallow root system does not allow them to withstand any sort of windstorm and do nothing these days other than create a lot of work for my husband who has to cut them up and haul them away.

I used the photos in this post in a video I created yesterday in hopes of posting it here today, BUT.... YouTube, where I load them to will not accept them since my web browser (Safari) needs updating.  I struggle with the thought of updating since it will update my entire Mac OS which will then make my iWeb software obsolete.

UGH.

So, what's a gal to do?

Guess I'll have to think about this today and weigh the importance of iWeb in my designing.

Because It's Cold

Do I look warm?

That's the objective for the day.... staying warm, since it's in the low 50's and rain drizzle wet outside.

My husband is away for the day teaching a computer, techie thingie, how to class to a bunch of engineering type folks, so it's my job to take the dogs outside, go check the mail, and keep warm while doing so.

So, in celebration of the cold weather, I thought I would do a post that no one else in the blogging world has done yet this autumn.

You'll notice that I am wearing a fur infinity scarf... faux fur of course, which I purchased last winter at the end of the season from The Loft. Originally $50 but much cheaper at the end of season sale they had.  This is so warm and snuggly and does a super job of keeping the body heat in when I step outdoors.  I'm not sure about this year, but last winter faux fur scarves were the 'it' style.

Not As Smart As She Thinks She Is

 Yes, some of the garden has been planted, and now the posies are in the pots.

 We completed our spring task of added color to both the front steps of the house as well as the flagstone patio area at the back of the house just in time for a spring storm to roll through.

 The temperature dropped as the wind blew in dark clouds which then dropped a small amount of rain, but we fooled Mother Nature since we had already planted and cleaned up the spilled dirt

and headed indoors.

 She's planning a few games for us tonite as well, when temperatures will drop down to nearly freezing once again.

We have sheets ready to toss over the garden AND these pots if necessary.

Mother Nature.... she thinks she's so darn smart.
