It's Late In The Season

It was late in the Season, but I scurried to downtown Roanoke for a last minute gift.

The little red farm truck was there selling live trees, wreaths and greenery for those who had yet to don their home with the fragrance of a forest.

You simply can't beat the look, hustle and bustle of an old downtown that takes you back to days of yore, beeping car horns and shoppers scurrying across  the busy streets.
Pay to park lots, parking meters, and high rise parking buildings help to manage the scenes, and if my husband could survive there, I would choose to have an old. small apartment over a store.
The lifestyle would suit me well.
My little Elf On A Shelf girl would have come along,

But downtown simply had no place for horse parking.
Neighbors stopped by with goodies in a cellophane wrapped box,
just one more thing for us to eat!  But we love that we are surrounded by good people.

A pretty flower arrangement from my husband's mother arrived, and it's nice to know that at 87 she still thinks of us each Christmas with a display that brightens our home.

Rowdy loves the red and green of Christmas and hiding directly within it is a game he plays each December.
And he was nice enough to think of his girlfriend, Izzy, and brought a matching Christmas scarf home for her from his visit to the vet.
They are simply stylin' in their pinecone neck scarvess.

My husband's present arrived a few weeks early this year and parking it beneath the tree was a problem, so we parked it in the driveway instead.  This photo was the last one taken before those golden leaves in the background fell to the ground from a windstorm followed by the first snow of the season.

So in early December we said goodbye to the golden leaves and hello to the snow of winter.

But snow never gets us down.... as long as we can get to the grill life is good!

The lights come on with each sundown and  cast their reflections on the rainy, wet driveway,
and we ooh and aaah when we step outdoors with the pups.
It's only right that we should enjoy them, since our home is hidden from the road and only those two homes we share our driveway with can see them.

And my husband brought us home a pink poinsettia from the grocery store this week, a must have each year at this happy time.
I'll say goodbye for a few days now as each and every one of you enjoys YOUR gifts of the Season
and time with your loved ones next to the warmth of your heart fires
and Christmas trees.

Merry Christmas to all!!
See you soon.

Rotten

Our girl elf.... I mean MY girl elf, finally came home.
I say MY, because my husband refuses to claim her as being a part of this family.

I gave her a HUGE time-out by making her sit in the chair all night on the front porch out in the thirty something degree weather.
At least she had the sense to keep her hat and gloves on so she didn't freeze to death.
DARN!

I don't think the time out did much to help straighten out her attitude because today she is climbing all over my pumpkin.
Yes, pumpkins do have a life after autumn is over.
If they are not rotten I keep them around.

speaking of rotten though.....

She's also decided that the Bradford Pear trees are a great place to hang around.

I simply don't know what to do about this little elf.
The more I attempt to make her pay for her mistakes, the more she misbehaves.

*sigh*

I do not recommend purchasing an elf on the shelf....
trust me,
nothing but troubles all through the holidays,
and to think I spent all that extra money for that pretty skirt for her.
I get no appreciation or respect at all.

Crash The Girl Elf

 For the love of....
the little elf girl who today is being called CRASH, escaped the house and has been seen locally tearing up the countryside and doing all kinds of havoc!

Sitting backwards while driving is unacceptable and she has probably wrecked my Pathfinder by now!

She has been spotted on country roads sitting on the steering wheel.

She is such a little smartie and had I known this prior to bringing her to live in our home I NEVER EVER would have brought her to our quiet home and peaceful neighborhood.
The neighbors must be simply livid!

She was seen speeding on curvy roads, nearly ending up in the ditch,

and she took out a tree and then backed up almost hitting the county Sheriff's car!

He went after her but it was a high speed chase, and he was afraid he may hit a reindeer or sleigh this time of the year, so he had to let her go and will send someone to the house to arrest her if she ever returns.
You can be certain that I will let him know if she comes here and
will be happy to see her led away in handcuffs.

She was seen going past the golf course at high speeds, waving and woo hooing at all of the golfers...
OMG
I am  soooo embarassed!!

Why someone didn't just throw a five iron or a wood at her to stop her is beyond me!
Crazy little @#R&%#$!!

Then she had the audacity to email me this movie!!
GAH!!!
My SUV... My SUV!!  It's probably wrecked and in Mexico by now!!
