Today it was announced that the WHO, World Health Organization has determined after years of studies that eating processed meats does indeed cause colon cancer.
Just eating a few slices of bacon increases your chance of colorectol cancer by as much as 18%.
It will be up to you to determine how much risk you wish to take with your body.
Then 'what shall I eat', you ask.
Chicken, soups, salads, seafood, vegetables.
Beans are a great food for getting your protein and can be incorporated into soups or salads or as a side dish.
Kidney beans, garbanzo beans, white beans, red beans.
Even tacos or taco salads can have chicken or turkey as a substitute for leaving red meats out of your diet.
My husband is out of town today so we have not discussed the WHO's announcement as of yet and whether or not red meats and processed meats will be omitted from our diet.
Wishing you all good things going forward should you make the decision to take red meat and processed meats out of your family's diet.
We are trying our best to eat more healthfully but I guess honestly...I'm not giving up a little bacon here and there.
ReplyDeleteMost days I eat healthy . . .
ReplyDeleteI kinda like those "naughty eating" days . . .
I agree with WHO though . . . processed anything can't be good for us!
And to think that is ALL some people eat!!!
