How Big

When it comes to refrigerators, it's not always 'how big it is', but how well 'the design' is going to serve your needs.

This is the refrigerator that came with our house when we made our home purchase two years ago.
Have I ever told you how much I dislike side by side style refrigerators?
Our previous home also had a side by side and I swore at it daily because nothing fit in it.
Struggling to get things in and out of the freezer side was a daily ritual and I NEVER EVER EVER want another side by side.
My appliance frustration days are over with, dead and gone and living in the laundry room.

We purchased a new refrigerator to stop my swearing and to make life a bit more kitchen friendly, because if you can make like easier for yourself, then why not?
Why force yourself to struggle with things that only drive your blood pressure up, which at my age I CERTAINLY don't need.
As you can see, the old side by side now resides in the laundry room, and today we put up a bit of sweet corn which the neighbors grew in their garden, and we will have non-pesticide treated veggies this winter thanks to having the space to freeze them.
The secondary refrigerator also comes in handy in the winter months when we want to have extra food on hand in case we get snowed in and can't get to the store.
Emergency food so to speak.
This is the fridge that replaced the one that is now in the laundry room.
It's large enough to house an extra large size pizza's box, a sheet cake, AND, there is plenty of room in the lower freezer section.
Refrigerators have come a long way, baby.
This certainly is not my grandmother's refrigerator... thank GAWD!
Aging means life 'should be' easier on us whenever possible.
Who needs the frustrations of a tiny refrigerator or one that battles you each time you want to take something out of the freezer. Not I.

Nope, not I.

  1. Only had one, a long time ago, and swore never again. Good for you, for not waiting for it to die! Enjoy!

  2. As you know, we have the same style and love it! Tons of room! Remember when we used to defrost the fridge and had to chip the frost out of the freezer compartment? Seems like a hundred years ago. What a mess.

  4. i don't think i would enjoy the stainless steel. all those finger prints would drive me nuts!! i have had both styles of frigs ... when i was young my parents had the frig freezer on top of each other. now in our home we have side by side. i change it up all the time when i clean it ... so i am not sure if i like it or not? it works is all i can say. now my mom has the freezer on the bottom & the frig on top ... so that is totally different for them. i have to remember where things are. but they do have another freezer to fill up in the basement. so that i nice for mom. if they have a party or what not.
