Winter Boots

These first few photos are of the winter snow boots I purchased early last year when my husband was in California during his brother's brain tumor surgery, and I was here at home when a major snowstorm hit our area, and the shoveling of snow job fell on my shoulders.

I am not a great shoveler of anything (ahem)

Anyway, I researched a lot of winter boots at that time, and since I knew I would not be needing them for sub zero type weather, these BearPaw brand boots were my choice.

They are warm enough for clueing snow from the front sidewalk and they look good too.

 Once the heavy snows of today stop falling, I'll be assisting me husband with a bit of clearing and putting these Bearpaws to the test of warmth.

and also the test of keeping out any wetness from the snow, because if the feet get wet it can only mean one thing... THIS GIRL IS GOING INDOORS!!

A few weeks ago I started reading a blog called Alaskan Weredork, it's a fashion blog from the state of Alaska.  The photos can be dark at times, but they don't have much sun this time of the year, but I did enjoy her post from yesterday about boots... something of great importance to Alaskans since they have many days of sub-zero temperatures and warm boots are at the top of their fashion list this time of the year.

So, what was Katie's recommendations and boots of choice?

Well, it certainly was not Uggs or Sorels, but she did give a thumbs up to Stegers boots.

However... the winning boot in her opinion is the Bogs brand.

Springtime Footware?

In 2007 when we moved to Virginia I purchased snow boots, but by the fall of 2014, as I was checking them over for wear and tear, I noticed that they were coming apart and a new pair would be needed this winter, so I threw them away.

Months went by and we received no snow, other than a small storm in November.... and then, the snows of winter never seemed to come again.

UNTIL....

February arrived with a vengeance and I let out a small sigh and a HUGE UH-OH.

I had no boots to wear when my husband was away for a few weeks and I needed to shovel the front walkway.

Now, boots, in a size and style you need are difficult to find in stores and online in the month of February and retailers should know this... but they are always moving along to the next season of the year once Christmas is over.

I finally found a pair of boots that would suffice, providing my high instep will let my foot slide into them, and I had hoped by now that I would be trying them on.....but then came another snowstorm in early March, which slowed the UPS delivery of my boots.

They arrived in the area on Friday but too late in the day, so they most likely will not be delivered to our door until Monday.

We are expecting temperatures in the 50's for the next week, and so it goes.... by the time my boots do arrive winter will be dead and gone and I won't have a need for them until next winter.

This must be one of Murphy's Laws.  

If nothing else, perhaps they will look cute as I go tip-toeing through the tulips this spring.

A Look To Keep You Warm

 

Although we have no snow on the ground, trust me.... winter ain't leaving anytime soon if these temperatures have anything to say about it.

Warm pieces can still be found, if not in your local department stores, then check online... Google what it is you want.

I had been eye-balling the faux fur infinity scarves for a couple of months and finally bit the bullet and purchased one and WOW, am I glad I made this purchase since it totally keeps the wind and any cold air off my neck.

Plus, I find it to be a pretty neat fashion statement and the faux fur just feels luxuriously soft under my chin.

You can wind it around twice or simply wear it in a long look draped from your neck and down onto your chest.

I have worn mine both ways.

Mine was purchased at The Loft, but was the last one they had in our local store... but at least it was marked down a few dollars.  I have seen these online from the $25-$500 range, so it's a case of 'pick your price'.
