Educated By The Same Books

I attended school in my home state of Iowa in a public school system that I was always proud to have been a part of, one that not only taught us how to do math, know and understand History and why events had happened as they did, English so that we knew how to read and write (the power of expression), Algebra, Economics, English Literature, Chemistry, Biology, Speech, Geometry, and all proved to be what we students needed to mold us into adults that could carry on in life and make good and sane decisions for the families we would one day have.
So what is it, I ask myself, that let some of us, all who attended the same school with the same teachers and the same text books, to one day become not so logical and vote for a man named Trump?
Because it was absolutely not a logical choice to choose to elect a man who clearly has the mind of a fifth grader to lead our country?
What turned that 'logic switch' in the brains of some of those I spent my school years with to flip to the 'off' position?
It's VERY clear to me as well as many others that he has no understanding of this world when it comes to History, American History or World History, and there is an abundance of evidence simply by watching videos of him or reading the scripts of interviews he has given, watching his body language on the campaign trail and since, that the man, although he went to college is clearly uneducated.
 Bigly
Yuge
Losers
Fake

These are the words of a fifth grade boy experimenting with his vocabulary and attempting to get a response from his peers in hopes of impressing them and fitting in.
It would appear that somewhere in his life he stopped growing, and I don't wish to spend a lot of time trying to discern what it was that happened to him that stunted his brain's ability to grow and transform from boy to man,
but clearly something happened along the way that stopped the leap into being an adult.
To those of you who voted for him, especially those of you I knew back in the days we were all being educated by the same teachers with the same words, and having all read from the same textbooks,
what happened to you to bend your brain into believing his words on the campaign trail,
and better yet, to allow yourselves to still follow him knowing that he speaks the words of a fifth grade boy?
It's a difficult thing to admit you made the wrong choice, especially when voting for a President, but if you are now seeing the light, please call your representatives in Congress and tell them to do what it takes to remove this man child from our White House.  Perhaps in 2020 you will be given a new and better choice.  Perhaps it will be an educated, well-spoken and truly caring man that will do his best to build this nation up and not tear it down.  Not lie to it's people. Not take rights away.  Not take away health coverage for those who need it most. Not use the office for his own good, and perhaps surround himself with good people that he trusts enough to listen to, rather than brush them off and ignore their advice as a fifth grade boy would do.
We all make mistakes from time to time,
but it's time to fess up and fix yours.
He's done enough damage and it would be best if he were to take his skate board and just go home to New York.

Musket Balls

We have a VERY long lane that comes up the hill, around a curve, to our actual driveway.
It is a 'shared' lane, a private lane, for us and for our two neighbors.
In this photo you see our property on the left, and another neighbor's is on the right..... but the lane up to his house is down the main road a bit..... his property simply butts up to our private lane.  Neither side of this lane is owned by the two neighbors who share the lane with us.  We three homeowners maintain the lane, purchase and grade rock when needed and in the winter we all clear the snow.  It's no big deal.... well, except to one, a 74 year old grumpy man who chooses to not share the cost of the rock.  *ahem*  BUT, the rock delivery generally costs around $300, so the other homeowner shares the cost with us.... it's really no big deal since no one wants to deal with the grumpy guy.

Anyway.... keep in mind that we own the property/land on the left.
You will recall a while back that I did a post about a neighbor down the main road that left us a bag of squash and he also included a pamphlet about the Constitution, and he has a Trump/Pence sign out by his driveway.... Being for the candidate of his choice is simply that... HIS CHOICE, and we don't discuss politics with any of our neighbors.... it's just better to keep things peaceful amongst neighbors is how we feel about it.  Firing homemade musket balls at one another sort of ruins things, don't you agree?

So yesterday my husband found that someone had placed a political sign at the bottom of our lane, a Trump Pence sign, and they placed it our OUR property just behind that very large rock.  Okay... this pissed him off, because first off... that's OUR property, and secondly, Trump is not our candidate of choice.... so my husband pulled up the sign and placed it on the other side of the lane.....the 'not our property' side of the lane.

No one has said anything to us about it, and no one has put the sign back on our side of the lane... but in a county that is 30% Democrat and 70% Republican..... let's just say we wouldn't put it past them.  We could have simply thrown the sign away, but if belongs to one of the neighbors we share the lane with, we do want to respect their political beliefs.... just not on our property.

We will be thankful when all of this nasty political drama is over and done.
In the meantime.... they should probably keep their signs off our property before we re-think the musket balls.

Charred Chicken And The Constitution

While my husband took the pups on the morning walk today in 38 degree, foggy, fall weather, I stayed home and enjoyed a egg, onion, avocado and pepper on toast breakfast.
It was delicious I might add.
Now, my husband always enjoys his walk which allows our pups to play with other neighborhood pups who happen to be out getting walked by their humans as well, and then he returns home and tells me all of what he heard from the neighbors.
He enjoys being a social butterfly here on our little backroad in Botetourt County.
A HIGHLY Republican county I might add, but we who are more liberal and possibly stick out like sore thumbs amongst the Fox News watchers don't mind, because we are all the same.
We all enjoy country grown tomatoes from our gardens.
We all share holidays and enjoy pumpkins on our porches this time of year.  We all enjoy wearing jeans, hats, turtlenecks and things that keep us warm on 38 degree mornings.
Many of us enjoy technology and sitting on our porches and decks, and the internet technology that allows us to do so here in the country.

We all enjoy some great chicken from the grill with just a touch of char on it to go along with those fresh homegrown veggies.... and we LOVE sharing our veggies with one another,
and laughing at Republican neighbors who leave you a bag of squash in a bag at the end of the driveway with a pamphlet about the Constitution of The United States.
I guess he thinks we need to be converted to Trumpettes.
Sorry Dude.... not happening, but you sure gave us a good laugh this morning!
And.... if you want to discuss politics, come on over and we'll char you some chicken.
