It Adds Up

As we age we get a few physical/medical conditions that require medications.
I happen to have had enough of an increase in my blood pressure that a daily magic pill is required.
My doctor put me on Bystolic, and other than the side effect of icy cold hands and feet each evening for about an hour, the side effects have been nil and I feel much better.
Unfortunately it is an expensive medication (because pharmaceutical and insurance companies are assholes making a fortune off of sick people), but my doctor had given me a coupon that nearly cut the cost of the medication in half.
The coupon was only good for six months and now my cost has gone from $54 per month to $104 per month.
Pretty much highway robbery if you ask most people, especially those of us in our 60's that are retired and living off a a much lesser income than we once did.

I visited my doctor's office today to pick up a new coupon, but when I presented it the the pharmacy the coupon was no good, because it was a 'once in a lifetime' coupon.
*sigh*
It had been good for six months, but now they expect me to pay full price for the rest of my life?

As it turns out, there is a website, medication discount card dot com, (do not use spaces if you type the url)
and if your medication is listed on the website you can print out a discount card that your pharmacy will probably accept in order to keep your prescription cost down.
Check it out if you need to save a bit of money on your prescriptions!
All this medical crap makes a soul simply want to lay down and take a nap on a sunny, warm driveway.
(using this coupon will save us $600 per year)

  2. Well how frustrating and "not fair" is that . . .
Probably not a good idea to get me started on meds, costs, insurance . . .

  3. Preach it, sistah! Hubs and I try to avoid any Rx if we can. Stuff like this can make your blood pressure go up! Hope you find a solution to the expense of the med. xoxo
