Building A Better Blog Experience

Recently I found myself perusing the blog of a MAJOR big time blogger who had just had a blog makeover;
she had it done by professionals and the results are gorgeous.

She listed some of the updates and changes on her blog, one being that if you click on her header it takes you to the home page.  Hmmm, I thought.  That would be a great characteristic to have on my own blog, rather than that silly bar above the posting area that lists the 'Pages' of the blog, along with a tab for 'Home'.
My next step was to do a search to see how I could add code into my blog, which is on a Blogger platform, to make my header clickable to Home.

I finally tired of the search, returned to my own blog, clicked on the Header, and well I'll be darned.
Clicking on a Blogger blogs header takes you to the home page, so there is no need to add code.
YAY.

If you have a Blogger blog, read a post or two, then click on your header and yours will do the same.
Takes you home.

I have been blogging for years and only now did I realize this!!

Another blogging idea for today is to add the 'follow by e-mail' gadget.  It's so convenient for your readers to follow you in this way.  I have placed my gadget beneath the header and all you need to do is type in the email address you wish the post to be sent to.  If we all did this we would never miss another post by any of our favorite bloggers.

How to add it?
1.  Go to the VERY upper right corner of your Blogger blog and click on Design.
2.  Go to the left hand column and click on Layout.
3. Now click on Add A Gadget.  It's in blue lettering.  There are multiple places you can add this.  On the right hand column of your blog, at the bottom of your blog.... Click on any of them and a window will open up with numerous options. Scroll down through the options until you see "Follow By Email" and click the blue Plus button to the right of it.
4.  The rest is pretty self explanatory and once you are done. click the SAVE button at the bottom of that window.
5.  Once it is saved, go back to your blog and make sure the email option appears on your blog.  If you don't like it where it is, then go back to the Layout page , click on it and do a drag and drop to place it where you want it to appear on your blog.  I have mine right below my header.

And that, my friends, is the Blogging Info of the day.
