Derecho Damage Three Years Later

The derecho damaged limb hung over the drive that comes up the hill to our home as well as two other homes, and although it looked nice for photo ops, it was dangerous should a heavy wind decide to drop it on a vehicle passing below it.

Today my husband, after ordering a saw with a 20 foot telescopic pole on it, took the limb down.

One day he will take the entire tree down since Dutch Elm's disease as well as the derecho wind have simply left most of the tree dead.

While sawing away at it, a small woodpecker came and sat on the limb and yelled at him.
Woodpeckers can be so bossy.

All that was left at this point was for him to take down the caution warning tape across the drive,
and clean up what remained of the tree after he chainsaw'ed the larger pieces and drug them into the woods.
It was a blue-sky kind of day with light breezes and temperature around 62 degrees.
The video of the sawing down of the limb is below if you care to watch the event in it's entirety.
I should have filmed it in HD for a nicer viewing experience, but I forgot to check the settings first.
