Lincoln Lincoln Bo Bincoln Banana Fana Fo Fincoln Fee Fi Bo Lincoln

This is Lincoln hanging out on our front porch wanting our pups to come outside and play with him.
He lives down the road and his family owns chickens, a rooster, and also a turkey.
The rooster and turkey guard the property from intruders who have plans to harm the chickens.
Lincoln could give a shit about the chickens and that's our fear, that he would lead Rowdy and Izzy to his house which would no doubt end up in the demise of a few chickens.
You see... Rowdy and Izzy chase after anything with wings, and we don't care to be replacing someone's dead chickens.

So, Lincoln stands on our porch and cries for Rowdy to come out and play, but until this RAINY weather dries up and we can go out and supervise the playtime.... Lincoln will simply have to cry.
He's a sweet boy, but for now these pups will just have to look at one another through our glass storm door and dream about the fun days ahead.
It's hard to remember, but I think this may have been one of the last dry days we had this month.
So much rain.
So little snow.
Rowdy loves to stand with his feet upon our stone wall and peek through the bushes when his dad is working in the backyard.
Alpha dogs always need to know what is happening anywhere on the property at all times
so they can be sure everyone is safe from intruders.
But Izzy has had enough of Rowdy's serious ways and runs to the front porch, grabs her favorite raggedy rope and bring it to Rowdy to add a bit of fun into the moment.
So Rowdy gives up his alpha stance on the wall and decides it's time for a bit of play.
He is sometimes TOO serious, so Izzy is the balance he needs in life to remind him that dogs should play every single day.

They make a great duo.

But, Lincoln is still waiting to play too.
*sigh*
I'm certain he will be back tomorrow.

How To Spend A Chilly Day At Home

Earlier in the week there was nothing but rain.
Cold. Hard. Rain.
So we killed time indoors and made some chicken broth.
We like chicken broth, and our humans... the best humans in the world we might add...
well, they give it to us daily over our kibble.
While the broth was wafting it's delicious, chicken aroma all over the house, we were busy selecting something to watch on TV.
It's quite confusing because there is always so much to choose from, and unless it has a canine star in it... well.... we tend to lose interest and our minds wander off elsewhere.
But then we finally chose something,
but once again it does not hold our attention and we drift off into nap-ville for an hour.... or two....
Since it was such a chilly day we decided to snuggle up, sort of a two dog night afternoon.
We finally woke up... shook our fur a bit, thought about watching another movie,
but decided we needed to get a move on and do our daily duty of watching for anything that moves in the yard.  THAT holds our attention longer than any canine show will ever be able to.
"How many birds did you count, Izzy?"
"Eleventy seven, Rowdy."

Skeedaddling

Life is exhausting, you know.... like when you run up the berm to chase a deer and then all of a sudden, out of the blue, the neighbor fires off a round with his gun to scare the crows out of his corn crop, and it's so scary that you have to slam on your brakes, abandon the deer chase, do a 180 turn and skedaddle to the house!
I was soooo skeeeered!
Could not get to the front porch and into the house fast enough.
*sigh*
And then your humans laugh at you.

Life is ruff,
and exhausting enough to make you just want to drop your head on your bed and close your eyes.

Such A Lady

I recall that my grandmother took her purse wherever she went, and when she arrived at her destination she would sit with her purse firmly planted in her lap.
She was such a prim and proper lady.
Her support hose may have been sagging a bit around the ankles,
but it didn't matter, as long as she had her purse on her lap all was right with the world.
Our little Izzy, such a vision of femininity, is much the same way.

Whenever she exits the house she is adamant about having her purse with her, at least that is how we refer to it, as her purse.
It may not hold a brush or blush, wallet, comb, or a tube of lipstick;
but she takes it with her, with it's long shoulder lip strap.
Rowdy appears a wee bit concerned about her strange purse habit, and sometimes attempts to take it from her,
well... we all know that some boys carry purses too.
I'm thinking of getting her a Chanel or maybe just a Michael Kors brand for Christmas this year.
Because every girl needs a really great designer purse.
