An Army Of Lipstick

 Our eldest granddaughter, in preparation for the annual winter prom at her school, was putting on her make-up.

The hair, make-up, wearing the perfect dress, having lunch and the fun of taking photos with friends is just as important and fun as the prom dance itself.

 

 So, while the girls were applying their make-up, I shot out a photo of her grandmother's Mac lipstick collection from the past few years.
It's a fun collection of reds and pinks that appeal to  my skin tone and gives me the option of a different color nearly every day of the month if I were to so choose..... I do however, have my favorites that get worn more than others.
My husband refers to these as my "army of red lipsticks",  but I reminded him that most of them are quite pink.

 Granddaughter and friends all looked so grown up, considering that they are not yet 16, and each girl showed her flavor of uniqueness in style.  

Their lipstick colors of choice appear to be quite neutral, which is completely appropriate for their age.

These girls have stuck together throughout grade school, junior high, and are now supporting one another in high school.

They are smart too, making smart choices for themselves, guided by parents who are focused on their children's best interest.

These are the faces of the future of our country,

and you should all feel very grateful for the way they are being brought up in a small town in the middle of the USA.

Full Fuchsia by Mac and Dancing

 Oh.... you may or may not have noticed a change in my lipstick on fashion posts here on the blog.

The red shades of Mac in matte have been my preference up until this past week when I switched things up to their Full Fuchsia color, an amplified creme;

great for the holidays to add a bit of pink to the mix.

This is, however, not a matte... it has a bit more 'flash' to it and glimmer.

Just something you may want to consider if you are planning to attend any New Year's parties this coming week-end.

I've always loved shades of Fuchsia!

The older we ladies get, I think it's important to wear a bit of lip color so that our ever fading natural lip skin color does not fade away to no lips at all.

The face as we age tends to slip downward and the only thing others see are our bags and sags.

Lip color is a good thing on older women, even if it's a light pink or peach..... 

I've always had somewhat thin lips and as I have aged into my sixties I've decided to define and enhance what lips I have left...

After all.... I'm not dead yet.

Fashion is so full of color choices.

Use them to your advantage.

All Fired Up

 

 I need to retake photos of this lipstick in the sunlight since it is not this pink.

It is All Fired Up by Mac, and it is much more red than pink.

But the pics are what they are.

 Last summer I wore many neutral lipstick colors, also by Mac, which is my newest favorite lipstick.

This one is a matte and I am enjoying wearing it.

The thing about purchasing a matte lipstick is that it gives you the option of a flatter look, or simply by applying a great gloss it shines.  I have found that mattes do not bleed into the creases around an old woman's lips as much, nor does it have as great a tendency to get onto my teeth.

 Looks fuscia, doesn't it?  But it's not.

I'll do a re-do on this one day and see if I can't get it to look more red as it truly is.
