Italian Oriental Stir Fry

We are calling this our Italian Stir Fry simply because it has bell peppers instead of bamboo shoots and snow peas.
LOL
Sometimes you just have to work with what's in the fridge, and this dish was not a disappointment.
My husband had decided he wanted stir fry, so he purchased a bottle of teryiaki sauce but no oriental veggies.... not a problem for this man who always knows how to make things work in the kitchen.
So, it has cubed chicken breasts, green bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, red onion, and just before it was done cooking in the wok, he added a few cherry tomatoes from the fridge that needed to be used before they went bad on us.
This is the Teriyaki sauce he used, and although quite flavorful, it has a TON of sodium in it, as do all store bought teriyaki sauces.... Everything else used in this dish was healthy for us, and we don't choose to use this sauce often, so I hardly doubt we will be falling over and dying from the high sodium anytime soon.
We ate this Italian Oriental stir fry (our name for it) over sticky rice.
It was a treat to eat so I am recommending it if wok cooking is something you enjoy..... and next time we may or may not buy snow peas to toss into the mix.

In Full Swing

A while back I needed to make a run to our vet's office to pick up a supply of the regular monthly meds that we give to our pups.  Flowers were in full bloom on the front steps into the building and demanded my full attention with camera in hand.
I have to wonder what they look like this week with our very high outdoor temperatures beating down on them.
Anyway.... they made me smile.
I have to be sure to tell my husband after I do the grocery shopping as to whether or not I have 'plans' for some of the food I buy so that he won't use them for his own meal planning purposes.
The cherry tomatoes and mushrooms were a part of the 'roasted veggies' for last night's meal.
Quite tasty!
It's been in the upper 90's, so it's really just too hot to spend time on the porch... and that plant has moved indoors for it's own summer survival.  Smart plant!!

Rowdy doesn't care... he sits out there anyway, but we do have to monitor his time spent in small quantities.  He seems to have a 'summertime heat cranial disorder' (jk) that does not allow him to know when he is hot and to come inside, even when panting.  You would think he would get the hint.
  *sigh*

Yes.  Summer is in full swing here in southwestern Virginia.

PV What?

Way back in 2007, just prior to selling our home in Tempe, Arizona, my husband... boyfriend at the time...was already working in Virginia, and I had stayed behind waiting for our home in AZ to sell.
I woke up one morning having heart palpitations, went to my doctor who placed me on Toporol, and the palpitations subsided.  No other tests were done that I can recall, but that was years ago.  I could just be having a case of bad memory.

I also had a similar situation a number of years ago here in Virginia, and I was placed on a halter monitor that records everything your heart is doing for 24 hours.  Again.... they found nothing at the Cardiologist.
*sigh*
Guess I just have a wonky heart.

Last Thursday after eating lunch I felt almost faint, VERY tired, and laid down immediately, crashed and burned for a couple of hours and then awoke feeling a teensy bit better.  Exhausted, but better.
I ate dinner and after eating felt a horrible headache come on.
I NEVER get headaches, so for some reason, since it was a pretty bad headache I decided to take my blood pressure since we have a BP cuff.
It was high... and hour later I took it and it was even higher....an hour later it was high enough, and the headache still persisted, so off to the ER at the hospital we went to see what was going on with me.
By the time we arrived at the ER my BP was 193 over 113, and although the doctor said some really stupid things that caused me to question his right to the title of M.D., we stuck around.
The heart monitor showed I was having PVCs, Pre-Ventricular Contractions.
We got home after 1 AM.  Exhausted.
I saw my own doctor the next day who listened and said that I was having irregular heartbeats....
They also hooked me up to a couple of contraptions just as the hospital had done.

She sent me back to the hospital and once again I was given a heart halter monitor, which I just removed a couple of hours ago and after I return it to the hospital for the results to be read, I should know more in a few days.

Until then, and beyond.... I am changing my eating habits to be mostly vegetarian, with a few tweaks here and there.
I have also ordered a Ninja Juicer/Blender and will be doing a lot of that in the days to come.

Anyone else have PVCs?
Anyone else a vegetarian?
To heck with eating meat.
I think it's totally bad for us.

*my bigger concern was for the very high blood pressure, which the ER doctor did not seem concerned about.  BUT I AM!*

Hot Dog Hankering Wednesday

There are times when one simply gets a hankering for a hot dog, and not a boiled hot dog or a microwaved fella, but a good old fashioned grilled hot dignity dog.

The thing I love most about a dog is you can put anything on it you also have a hankering for.
Don't even try to tell me you don't like any of the fixins you see here on my dog, because it's MY DOG.
I'll set out all of the fixins and you can make yours just as you like.

It's Wordless Wednesday, but I never was one to be quiet for very long.

*this was Tuesday night dinner at our house*
