Pathetic Attempt To Increase Profits

Much of the blogging world now consists of Fashion related blogs, and for the most part I am okay with that, except for a few bloggers that try a bit too hard to be fashionable and instead look like clowns.  I am not talking about anyone who visits my blog though, just so you know.
Or maybe it's me that dresses like a clown.

It appears that our favorite fashion doll, made by Mattel, known as Barbie, and the doll that I grew up with in the 60's, has now received a TOTAL makeover and comes in various sizes and shapes.
Mattel it would seem is trying to make everyeeee body happy, and in the process has taken an iconic doll and made different heights and weights/sizes so that EVERY LITTLE GIRL ON EARTH as well as her EVIL-OVER-THINKING MOTHER happy.  Personally I believe it's the moms they are trying to keep happy.

SO, now every mom can rush out and buy a skinny Barbie, slightly fuller figure Barbie, a petite/short Barbie, blah blah blah, as well as the wardrobe that fits said 'perfect' Barbie.  (how convenient for Mattel profits) I do applaud having a dark skinned/ethnic Barbie, but really??? Does there need to be a Barbie/NOT Barbie doll in every size and shape??

My sister and I as well as pretty much every little girl in the midwestern town we grew up in had a Barbie doll and I don't know of any of us that has body issues to this day.

You can't and never will be able to please all of the mothers of today's little girls and heal THEIR body issues by offering up these NOT Barbie dolls to their children.

So pathetic, Mattel.
Not impressed.

  1. There used to be a darker skinned Barbie when I was growing up. Maybe she was just tanned Barbie, but I had her. There was also Midge, who has been lost over the years. Times change.

  2. I saw that on the news last night! I guess the company must have been getting a lot of slack on the original to go to all this trouble.

  4. I heard it on the news and thought . . . REALLY . . .
    Barbie is Barbie . . .
Momma's might be happy, but wonder what "Barbie's" will be on the "wish lists!"
I think the original Barbie will still be "the chosen!"
