Recipe For My Turkey Burgers which the ingredients can be varied according to your own taste.
A recipe that has been made much and revised over and over again in our home, and something that is actually healthy for you is:
1 lb. ground turkey breast (get it at your local grocer)
1 egg white from large or x-large size egg
diced fresh pear (half a pear)
diced sweet onion
diced red onion
(use amt. of onion you wish)
I added a few dried cherries too.. a small handful, but these are optional since this recipe is very forgiving and can be adjusted to your taste by adding what appeals to you, but I enjoy the pears and the cherries for a bit of sweet.
Mix with your hands just like you would the makings for a meatloaf, but instead of a loaf pan just make these into patties. Usually makes 8-10 patties depending on your patty size.
I then fry them up in olive oil, light or EVOO, depending on your preference.
Give them a couple of presses with a spatula and flip them once or twice.
When turkey is white you will know they are done.
It's not rocket science people.
You could make these out of hamburger if you choose, salmon, etc.
I am trying to cut a few things out of my diet due to a health issue, so this recipe works well for me.
Enjoy your plate of turkey burgers.
Because really.... do we all need so much beef?
*you could also add some red pepper flakes or some small pieces of diced bell pepper, or use apple rather than pears, As I said, these are versatile and forgiving burgers and they keep well in the refrigerator for a few days. They can be reheated to go with your favorite vegetables for a meal, or I like to grab a cold one for a snack. They don't last long in my world.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the reminder about these. I want to start making them again when I get my kitchen back. I've always liked them with diced apples.
