Before Dying

A few weeks ago we picked, sliced and froze nearly the last of our bell peppers and a few days ago my husband made some beef stroganoff.  It tasted good but it was a learning experience and next time we will first marinate the beef since it was a little chewy.  It also needed a bit more corn starch for thickening so it wouldn't simply run all over the plate.

The second night we thickened it up a bit and this time it stayed put atop the mashed potatoes.
Kale on the side was delicious and we thanked our neighbor profusely for stopping by with a bag of it from their winter garden.  We cooked it in chicken stock, a wee bit of onion and lots of garlic and left it a little crispy since soggy, soft kale is simply not good.
Next up will be collard greens which the neighbor also stopped by with, another new experiment for our taste buds.

It's always good to try a few new things before we die.

LOL

  1. Oh, now that it's just us at home, we are trying all sorts of new foods. It's nice to have that adventuresome spirit--especially if you find something new that you love.
