I am in love with this room!
If I were as great a thrifter as Leslie Glotzl of Richmond, VA, I would have this room, sans a few of the knick knack items on the fireplace and table, only because dusting them would drive me a little bit crazy, but otherwise THIS is what I would want, especially the rug.
I pulled this photo from HOUZZ and you can view the rest of the home HERE. Thrift says warmth, as long as the pieces are clean, sturdy and refinished or recovered as is necessary. It's not really not a decorating method my husband agrees with, in fact, give him his recliner and big TV and the rest of the house really is not of importance to him when it comes to furniture.
A big house with no furnishings suits him just fine.
But then, it's rare to find a man who is a nester.

We recently added this large framed piece which was purchased at a local furniture store.
I would have preferred a second hand framed item, but our area offered nothing that appealed to me.
The thing I love about it though, is it's very large size for what is a high wall that arches up to the peak of the house. Small items, unless you have a large grouping of them just do not work on a wall of this stature.
Capturing a framed piece on a photo is difficult to do due to glare on the glass, but it's a warm scene with old trees that arch over a dirt roadway. It felt a bit 'southern' to me and helped to warm the feeling of this room.
Now.....
about those rugs.
This space calls for something colorful, so that's on my list of to do's.
