Last year on May 7th I snapped a photo of Izzy's hair loss. She had shed away so much in areas that she had a zig zag pattern and bare spots on her back and sides. In comparison I am showing her coat of hair one year later exactly, on May 7th.
Izzy's veterinarian, Dr. Kroenlein at Valley Animal Hospital, suggested that we put her on one melatonin per day during the winter months to see if that would solve the issue. We started her on 3mg of melatonin last November, which we gave to her in a Pill Pocket each night at bedtime, right up through April of this year. Yes, it's a sleep aid, but it also works wonders on a coat of hair.
As you can see in the bottom photo of each set above, she has a perfect coat of hair this year.
Speak to your vet if you have a pup that is losing too much hair in the spring or summer months.
Your pet may need melatonin as well.....

Never thought about vitamins and such for hair loss. Wonder if it would work for my husband's bald head? Izzy is beautiful!
