Snow On The Menu

 We were over it.
Completely over the Holidays since it's almost the end of the first week in January.
So we hauled out the big plastic storage tubs that we purchased a month ago which were lying in wait in the basement to be filled with the indoor and outdoor colored Christmas lights.
The lights are down, the two small trees were tucked away with large garbage bags to keep any dust off of them until next December rolls around.
We ate the final scraps of the giambotto from Christmas that had been frozen,
And we kissed the Holiday season goodbye.
I even used the last of the Bacardi to liven up my eggnog.
Yes.
(not to worry..... I have another bottle tucked away)

IT'S OVER!

Oh, and it's cold tonight with snow on the menu,
but hopefully not too much.

Smell The Pine Cones

Today I am finishing up with the rest of the bulk of my holiday decorations photos in our home.

We enjoy our holiday expressions around the house of which we don't over do, simply because we enjoy a 'liveable' space without too much clutter.

We do leave our shoes on the rug inside the front door though.... clutter enough.
We see table tops and counters as spaces that should provide work space, a place for the phone, a pad and pencil to jot down a quick note, a place for a grocery list or reminders.

The white sleigh will hold any Christmas card and Holiday Greetings that we receive in the mail.
Many people no longer send them, but when they do, we plop them in the sleigh after reading them.

These candles on the tall candle holders remain on this table year round.  They each have a small pine cone and needles, which when you live in a wooded area fit nicely into the decor year round.
I do change out the potpourri throughout the year, but usually keep it a spicy scent since any floral tones tend to annoy our nostrils.

A gingerbread house, even if it is acrylic instead of the real thing, is a must on the kitchen shelf.

And of course my office sees a bit of sparkle too, that lift my spirits on all of these cloudy, wet days we have been having since October.  It's December.... ENOUGH WITH THE RAIN ALREADY!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these simple yet lovely holiday photos of our home this year as we ready for the Season during the weeks ahead.
Lay down the stress and try your best to enjoy this time of year, as harried and busy as it may be sometimes...
we all need to take a few moments and breathe it all in.
Smell the roses pine cones so to speak...

A Fun Christmas Kitchen

The decorating fun was just that...
FUN!
My husband and I each had a frustration or two, but not with one another.... with strings of lights!

First you get them out and make sure all bulbs are working.
Sometimes nothing on the string works and into the trash they go.

but once the lights are all in working order,

 the fun begins!
we drug out every bit of Christmas decor we own, sifted through it, and found the most loved items that we then used.

He strung the lights above the kitchen cabinets... chili peppers!!

And WOW... do they glow at night!
You can see our kitchen from outer space!!
*giggles*

Stay tuned for the rest yet to come!

It's the jingle time of the year.
Have fun with it.
