The Long Road

 The little road home.

Out in our area, the golds and oranges of autumn are as vivid as in Roanoke, although with all of the pine and cedar trees we have, well..... you get it, the colors come in smaller bunches.

I long to live on a property once again that is nothing BUT color this time of the year,
and the birds, bees, squirrels and bears can have the cedars and pines.

We each love what we love and what it is that moves us in our hearts and minds when the eyes show us what the world has to offer.  For some it is the softness of springtime, the brilliant greens of summer, or white freshly fallen snow on mountaintops of winter.

It is the brilliance of autumn that rings my bell
takes my breath away
and leaves me speechless
and it generally happens the third or fourth week of October,

I am totally sucking it up this week since the frosty nights are only a few days away which means one good stiff windy could end all of this for me.

It will be a long road until the next October comes around.
Forgive me while I soak this all in
because when it's gone I'll sob like a baby.
